Thanks for Joining Us for ‘Answer Time’!

Thank you all for joining me, Tumblr’s @action community, and Freedom for All Americans’ Transgender Freedom Project for this special #AnswerTime! I had such a great time answering all of your questions and helping folks understand a bit more about transgender equality.

Here’s how you can stay engaged:

  • Follow Freedom for All Americans’ Transgender Freedom Project here on Tumblr
  • Get involved with your local chapter of the ACLU! The ACLU of Mississippi has been great to me and many states have their own chapters. www.aclu.org
  • Follow me on Tumblr, ‘Truthfully Malaysia’ – here! Feel free to ask me additional questions or share what’s on your mind.
  • Keep getting the word out about the need for LGBTQ-inclusive non-discrimination protections and transgender-specific education and advocacy.

Cheers, and Happy Transgender Day of Visibility – tomorrow, March 31!

Very recently I came out as trans and while I know a lot about the gay community I know only a medium amount about trans history and community, is there anywhere in particular you recommend for starting my research? I know it may not be as important but I prefer to know my roots to be aware and educated on the struggles other may face and have faced before me. Anyways thank you!

WOW! This is where the internet will be your best friend! You can find more influential trans folks in history that I probably don’t know about, LOL. Some of my favorite pioneers are Miss Major, Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, Lucy Hicks Anderson, just to name a few! Enjoy the world of knowledge that you are about to gain!
